The Gardens at Hatfield
Sue Snell

"A sumptuous new book of photographs by Sue Snell"
Harriot Lane Fox Daily Telegraph
"A perfect evocation of this magical terrain"
Roy Strong Spectator

A photographic journal compiled over seven years at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, where the Marchioness of Salisbury extended to Sue an open invitation to explore the 50-acre gardens. Sue visited at different times of year to gather a diverse range of impressions, from bold vistas to secret corners.

The book covers the four compass points of the gardens: the tree-lined avenue in the north leading to the main entrance; in the west, the parterre, knot, privy and scented gardens; in the south, the original entrance looking out over the deer park; and to the east, the mount, kitchen and other gardens and the vineyard.
